Khalif Barnes OT Washington 65 310
By: Robert Davis

Khalif Barnes has been a mainstay on the UW since his redshirt freshman season. He started every game at tackle that season, and has been there the rest of his career until he fractured his wrist half way through his senior season. He started all 42 games he played in. Barnes was named team captain for the 2004 season.

Khalif Barnes has a lot of upside at the next level. Hes a great athlete, moves very well, and is great in pass protection. There are few that have his athleticism in this draft at the tackle position. He has a lot of experience, and has proven durable during his career.

Right now, Barnes is more of a one-dimensional blocker. Hes great in pass pro, but needs work in the run game. The big reason for that is that he needs to bulk up more. Hes steadily added weight to his frame, but he still needs a few more, and needs to get stronger.

Barnes is one of the more athletically gifted linemen in this draft. You cant teach the natural athleticism that he has. If he gets bigger, he could end up being a very good NFL left tackle during his career. How much weight he can add before the draft will determine his draft stock. With his athletic skills, I wouldnt be surprised to see someone take him in the 2nd round. Hes more of a 3rd or 4th rounder at this point, but could really outplay that position in a few years.
