Brace showed his potential as a run clogger as a freshman reserve in 2005, finishing the season with 11 tackles, one for loss. As a sophomore his numbers improved to 20 tackles, 3.5 for loss. As a junior, Brace began to be more of a force. He had 27 tackles, 7.5 for loss, and 2.5 sacks on the year. He closed out his career with his best season, finishing with 27 tackles, 11 for loss, and three sacks.
Strengths
Brace has tremendous size and is an immovable force on the interior defensive line. He uses his size and natural strength to hold his ground at the point of attack and clog running lanes up the middle. He plays with power and can push the lineman back and collapse the pocket. Brace would be a great fit on the nose for a 3-4 defense.
Weaknesses
With Braces size, hes going to have to keep his weight in check. He can wear down in games and he may need to get in better shape to be more of a factor throughout the game and over the course of the long season. He also probably will not provide many big plays, as he lacks the burst to get into the backfield consistently and break up the action.
Future
Ron Brace is a true nose tackle and could carry a very high grade for 3-4 teams looking for a wide body to anchor their interior line. He may not make many game changing plays but he will improve anyones run defense immediately.
