Wright provided an all around impact as a freshman for the Lobos. He had 46 tackles, six for loss, four sacks and a pick on the year. A year later he was used in a more traditional cover role and had 47 tackles and four interceptions on the year, earning All MWC honors. As a junior he again earned All conference honors after tallying 36 tackles and three interceptions. As a senior Wright had 33 tackles, two for loss, and two interceptions on his way to All MWC 2nd team honors.
Strengths
Wright has emerged as a playmaker in the secondary. Over his career he has shown potential as a blitzer, helping in run support, as a cover man, and as a kick returner. He is a good athlete with very good quickness, and is aggressive closing on the action. He is not afraid to come up in run support, and is not afraid to get physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage. Wright has also shown to have play making ability with the ball in his hands, whether via a pick or kick returns.
Weaknesses
Wright may lack the change of direction and hips to cover quicker receivers in the NFL. He can give up a cushion out of breaks and lacks the blazing speed to make up for it. He also has a slim build and will have to get stronger to be able to match up better.
Future
Wright is a decent corner prospect but may not have the true man cover skills against quick receivers to be a prime pick. He has shown the ability to do a lot of things on the field, so he brings potential and at least should provide depth for some team in the secondary.
