Cornelius Ingram WR/TE 6'4 245 Florida 4.68

By: Robert Davis

Ingram redshirted his first year as a Gator, but spent the season playing for the schools basketball team. As a redshirt freshman he switched over from quarterback to tight end to get him on the field, and he ended up catching two passes for eight yards on the season. As a sophomore he caught 30 passes for 380 yards and a touchdown. Last year Ingram became the playmaker the Gators had hoped for when they made him a tight end, and he hauled in 34 balls for 508 yards and seven touchdowns. An ACL injury ended Ingrams senior season before it began, but he should be healthy to play on Sundays next year.

Strengths

Ingram is a tremendous natural athlete. He has the athleticism and body control of a wide receiver, and will cause match up problems in the NFL. Ingram will have no problems lining up in the slot or moving around to create mismatches, because he has the talent to beat linebackers or defensive backs as a receiver. He is the total package as a receiver: he can be a quality red zone target and is a threat with the ball in his hands. He brings a lot of potential to the NFL because of his lack of experience as a playmaker but he has been a quick learner at the TE spot.

Weaknesses

Ingram is a one dimensional tight end, and will continue to be in the NFL. He lacks the strength at the point of attack to block, and simply a liability in the running game. Some may look at him as a WR because of his athleticism, but he could have trouble getting separation against DBs on a consistent basis. A knee injury brought a hault to his college career, and may stunt his development with a year off.

Future

Ingram may not have a true position but he is a guy that, if utilized properly, can be a major weapon in the NFL. He is a playmaker and could have a big impact on Sundays. Ingram worked out at the combine, showing that he should be good to go for mini camps after the draft. He ran an impressive 4.68 40 and jumped 33", and may not be 100%. The workout was definitely impressive considering the injury was just over six months ago.
