Collins was suppose to redshirt during the 2005 season, but he was called on in the last half of the season and ended up rushing for 25 yards on the season. He became a starter as a sophomore and finished the year with 115 yards and a touchdown on the ground to go along with another 198 yards and three scores on 20 receptions. He became a key cog in LeSean McCoy�s success in 2007 while adding 110 yards and a score on the ground and 60 yards on nine receptions. Collins finished up his career with 85 yards rushing and 77 yards receiving on nine receptions.
Strengths
Collins is a very solid all around fullback. McCoy has rushed for over 2,800 yards and 35 scores behind Collins. He is a solid blocker with the toughness to stick his nose in and pick up a defender to help create space for his back. Like most of today�s fullbacks, he brings some playmaking ability to the position as well. He is a good athlete with decent speed for a fullback, and can get out and pick up guys for McCoy out in space and down the field. He brings some value as a short yardage back, and was a nice outlet option as a receiver before McCoy brought his skills in that role.
Weaknesses
While he has shown the ability to be a lead blocker, he lacks the bulk and strength to really level defenders or consistently move players between the tackles. He could be a real threat as a receiver but didn�t get called on more because McCoy was such a big playmaker.
Future
Collins brings some nice all around skills to the game and should have a long career in the NFL. If he can get stronger to improve his blocking skills to go along with his receiving skills, he could be a great fit for a team that likes to utilize their fullback. The position does not carry much value and he isn�t a true physical specimen or devastating blocker so he may only be selected in the middle to late portion of day two but he could be a productive NFL fullback in time. Collins had a solid pro day showing off his all around ability. He ran his 40's between 4.64 and 4.72 at 224lbs, to go along with a 34.5" vertical, and 26 reps on the bench.
