Lichtensteiger made an impact as a redshirt freshman, earning Frosh AA honors and 2nd team WAC honors. He again earned 2nd team WAC honors during his sophomore year. His junior and senior seasons saw him earn 1st team honors.
Lichtensteiger is a tough interior line prospect. He is strong, will battle until the whistle blows, and is aggressive on the field. He has shown the ability to control defenders at the point of attack and open up running lanes. He finishes his blocks well and is always playing hard. He has a ton of experience and is very intelligent. That should allow him to make an impact from the get go.
Lichtensteiger is not the greatest athlete and can have some trouble with quicker lineman on the inside. He can be beaten off the snap and give up initial penetration. He will not be asked to get out and block on the move too often.
Lichtensteigers lack of ideal mobility limits his upside, but he has everything else to be a quality interior lineman in the NFL. He may be one of the first centers drafted in April, even though it probably will not be until the fourth or fifth round.
