Barrett has excellent size for a safety. His size and aggressiveness allow him to make his presence felt over the middle of the football field. He can match up well in coverage with receivers and tight ends because of his size and strength. He also shows impressive closing speed and range in coverage for a player his size. Barrett may even have the ability to move up and play the weakside linebacker spot because of his size.
While he has good straightline speed, Barrett can lose some ground when changing directions. He is also too aggressive at times, biting on fakes and giving up the big play.
Barrett is a very good strong safety prospect. He is physical and fast, and can make plays in the secondary. He is also an intriguing option as a linebacker prospect. With a little added weight, he could be a fantastic weakside linebacker in some defenses.
