Avery caught 18 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman in 2004. A year later he started to show big time ability, finishing the year with 44 receptions for 688 yards and five touchdowns. He continued to improve as a junior, catching 57 passes for 852 yards and five scores. Avery blew up as a senior, catching 91 balls for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns.

Avery has explosive speed. He may be one of the faster players in this draft, and you will not catch him if he gets a step on you. He has very good quickness, and hits top speed very fast. His speed makes him a threat to score every time he touches the ball, and he could become a good return man in the NFL because of his speed.

Avery is not big or strong enough to make an impact over the middle. At this point, he is just a vertical threat and he will need to put in a lot of work to live up to his potential.

For teams needing a receiver to stretch the field, Avery is an intriguing option. He needs time to work on the rest of his game, but he has tremendous speed and will be a player to watch at the next level.
