Tim Crowder started nine games as a freshman, and has not left the starting lineup since. As a freshman, he earned Frosh AA honors, finishing with 35 tackles, three for loss, and a sack. As a sophomore, he totaled 47 tackles, 10 for loss, with 4.5 sacks. Crowder continued to be a rock as a junior, posting a career high 50 tackles, nine for loss, and three sacks while earning All Big 12 1st team honors. He saved the best for last as he went out with 57 tackles, 19 for loss, and 10.5 sacks on the year.
Crowder is as steady as they come. He shows up to play every game, and every snap and does not give up until the whistle blows. He has good size at end, and may be able to add more weight at the next level. He is a very good run stopper at end, showing the toughness to battle the lineman and the ability to get off the block and make the play. Crowder is also a good athlete, and shows good mobility on the football field.
Even though he shows up to play every game, Crowder has never been an explosive gamebreaker until this year. He had just 8.5 sacks despite being a three year starter for the Longhorns, then busted out for 10.5 this year alone. He needs to show more consistency as a playmaker and prove that it wasnt a one year breakout for him. He also will need to bulk up to hold his ground better as a run stopper.
Crowder needed to show more pass rush ability this year, and he did just that. A solid showing in the post season has solidified Crowders stock on Day One of the draft, and he may hear his name called in the second round.
