Otto won the starting left tackle job as a freshman, and has not let it go during his entire stay as a Boilermaker. In his first three seasons, he started 36 consecutive games at left tackle.
To be a left tackle in Purdues offense, you have to be able to pass block, and Otto certainly can. He sets up very quickly off the snap, and does an excellent job of keeping himself between the quarterback and the defender. As a run blocker, he shows the toughness and willingness to fight and claw. He will not give up and always finishes his blocks.
He has the toughness to be a factor as a run blocker, but he will need to get stronger and bulk up to make a difference in the NFL. He lacks the power at the point of attack to really move people in the running game.
Otto is intelligent, experienced, and tough and that alone should find him a spot in the NFL. He is a sound pass blocker and if he can add weight, could develop into a quality tackle at the next level.
