Patrick began his career at Duke before transferring to Delaware for his senior season. As a freshman in 2003 he showed some big play potential, hauling in 17 balls for 218 yards and a touchdown. As a sophomore, he caught 32 passes for 311 yards, and one touchdown. As a junior for the Blue Devils, Patrick caught 30 balls for 252 yards. In his only season at Delaware, Patrick caught a career high 64 passes for 639 yards and six touchdowns, earning All American honors in the process.
Patrick is a talented all around tight end. He has very good size and is a solid athlete. As a receiver, he shows the quickness to come in and out of his breaks and create space, and the athleticism to go up and get the football. Patrick also has the makings of a solid blocker. He is big enough to seal off holes, and strong enough to move people off the line of scrimmage.
Patrick does not possess any explosive quality. As a receiver, he is not going to outrun defenders or be a player that gets down the field very often. As a blocker at the next level, he doesnt have the power to consistently move people off the ball and create space in the running game.
Patrick is a dependable, all around tight end. He may never be a gamebreaker, but his ability as a receiver and blocker will make him an attractive commodity in April.
