After a solid season backing up as a freshman, Pittman had a great sophomore season. He ran for 1,331 yards and seven touchdowns on the year. As a junior this past year, he again was a standout, finishing the year with 1,233 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.
Pittman is a very tough interior runner, and fights for extra yardage. He keeps his legs moving and does not go down easily. He has the ability to make the first defender miss, and the ability to turn the corner and pick up big yardage. He has the ability to see a hole and quickly get upfield through it. Pittman is a very sound runner both inside and out.
Pittman is at his best running between the tackles, but he may lack the pure size and bulk to be truly effective as an every down back. For a back of his size, he lacks the experience as a receiver to be a factor while he tries to gain weight.
After Peterson and Lynch, the RB situation is really open and the backs could go in any order. Pittman can carry the football, but he will have to get better in other aspects to really see the field. He could hear his name called on the first day of the draft, but hes going to have to prove he can do more than just carry the football.
